Is Islam Old Philosophy?

Islam is a religion that emerged in the 7th century in Arabia. While its roots are in the ancient Abrahamic traditions, it is not considered an “old philosophy” but rather a living and dynamic faith that continues to evolve and adapt to changing times and circumstances.

The teachings of Islam are based on the Quran, which is considered the final and complete revelation from Allah (God) to humanity, and the Hadith, which are the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Quran and Hadith provide guidance and principles for Muslims to live by and address many issues related to social, economic, political, and personal matters.

Islam also has a rich intellectual tradition that has contributed to various fields of knowledge, including theology, philosophy, science, mathematics, and literature. Many Muslim scholars throughout history have made significant contributions to these fields, and their works continue to be studied and appreciated by scholars worldwide.

Therefore, while Islam is rooted in ancient traditions, it is not considered an “old philosophy” but rather a dynamic and evolving faith that has continued to inspire and guide millions of people around the world for over 1,400 years.
